Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker writer, syndicated columnist, author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran soon exited the company. Corcoran is one of ABC's initial Shark investors was a featured guest of each episode of Shark Tank. In February 2020 Corcoran was involved in 53 deals, with the largest being a $350,000 deal that included 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children from a working-class Irish Catholic family. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father through Corcoran's childhood. Her family sometimes depended on food delivery for free from a nearby grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father being an intoxicated man who would sometimes treat her mother with contempt and disrespect, especially when having consumed alcohol. Corcoran was struggling in school, and discovered later that she had dyslexia. Corcoran was a student at a Catholic elementary school in her community and began high school in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran who was in the process of failing numerous classes in her first year of high school, was moved to Leonia High School. There, she received a D.
